Action Plan - Strike
We thought about going on stike. Many of us think it would be a good idea. We have read about how other people have gotten a new school by going on a hunger strike. It actually happened here in Chicago in the Pilsen/Little Village neighborhood.
Even though we like the idea and think it is a good plan we know that there would be consequences if we went on strike. Some of the consequences could be good, like getting a new school, but others could be bad. For instance, none of us want to go to summer school and that could end up happening if we take a stand and go on strike. We actually had a good threaded discussion on the Collaboratory about the idea of a strike. We were able to hear what everybody thought and express our ideas.
For right now we think it is better to get support in other ways, but we are willing to do what ever it takes to get a new school and if that means we have to walk out to continue our fight for what is right we may have to go on a strike.
